Storing Precious Jewels

Some people even interchange the two terms coffin and a casket but little did they know that the two differs much in varied and unique ways. The general purpose however is the same, even the casket and coffins prices are both inexpensive depending on the type of material used.

During our art class in summer, we were taught of how we can make good wooden projects for winter. We were given a pile of wood, some nails, paint, screw and chisel. I decided to make jewelry box that resembles something like the twilight saga’s Bella’s musical coffin.

We know that coffins are used to contain the deceased bodies subjected for burial even in the earliest 16th century. The shape of a coffin depends on the person’s body and likely has 6 – 8 sides. The most designs have a wider width on top and decreases for the lower limbs and feet.

An amazing fact:

The hexagonal or semi- octagonal shape of a funeral vessel is deemed to be more cost efficient and saves time for the production process, compared to the price of a casket.

A jewelry box normally contains a ladies’ precious jewels, ornaments  and body embellishments. Valuable items such as earrings, rings, bracelets, bangles, watches and even diamonds are solely stored in this precious little box. The typical shape is a four sided rectangular box and that is what I intend to make for my art class project.

Interestingly, we should take note that casket is not a substitute term for coffins since it really is not. Casket is really a jewelry box and does not necessarily mean the vessel to be used for a burial/funeral.
