A Tribute For Halloween

Apparently burials and burials are very expensive. Apart from the funeral coffin and service fees, flower arrangements also add up to the extra costs making it much of a burden for the immediate family.

I came across a pile of flowers and greenery stems on our garden which a creative idea crossed my mind. I plan to bring a casket spray to my grandpa at the cemetery for his death anniversary but since it is quite expensive I intend to make one for him and it’s just way too easy!

You have to consider which type of flower is it that you wanted to use. I wanted to fresh lilies, roses and ferns for the spay. Got a nice type of flower foam to be used for the flower arrangement and a few meters of bendable wires to fit the foam to the saddle nicely.

You cut the foam to the shape and size that fits the saddle, position it nicely and snugly. Gather the greeneries you chose and place them side by side starting from the center and moving inwards. Cut the stems of the flowers you have chosen and layer them on the base you made with the greenery stems. You have to make sure that it is formed in an upward motion that resembles a mounded shape over the saddle. A good option is to use the bendable wires to a bunch of flowers to make it more stable and secure. Step back and recheck if the placement is just right and forms the desired shape.

Grab 1-2 meters of ribbon of your desired color and use the bendable wires to secure it around and onto the saddle. Form the flowers and arrange them accordingly making sure that no single piece pops out and of excess length, you can simple trim off the ends and re-insert the stem back onto the foam.

Don’t forget to add water onto the foam to make the flowers bloom and last a little longer.

Have you made this project before? What type of flowers did you use?
